Been a long time with no updates eh?

Man, it's been a KILLER week. The jobby was whupping on muh booty like mad (what fucking language am I speaking this morning?!) with 2 full days of CSS training (woohoo! haha whee) and kate had her first real-deal photo gallery so most of our free time was spent doing other things. Preparing to move out of our condo and then not moving out, making amends with the parental units (thank you ALL for the kind words, support from both sides etc etc etc... this buildup blog is worth it's weight in gold simply with the viewers it has =)

Soooo, this weekend was spent cleaning up the house, relaxing and trying to get back to the normal pace of things. Saturday we... well, lets back up to some excellent info... last Wednesday, Kate and I took off work a bit early after I got out of training to drop off our seats to a place called Craftsman Upholstery (no website yet and yet is the operative word here... I'll link it up as soon as I finish making it in the coming weeks as I have loads of other prior obligations.)

So yeah, we dropped off the super duper rare seats we picked up from a fellow worker bee a month or so ago. These are called Recaro Othopaed's. I have NEVER seen then in my life so hopefully people at the upcoming shows will get a kick out of them. Basically, the seats are FULLY adjustable. And when I say fully, there are close to 12 different movable parts to the seats. Each section can move in/out up/down etc but the bad thing is, is that they are 20 years old and rotted like crazy. They are in decent shape but needed to be reupholstered so that's where Eric at Craftsman came in.

I found him with a google search and a few days later we met for the first time. He is as oldschool as they come and ever after trying to hock a website for trade, his reasoning of "F*** email. Screw phone calls. If you want to deal with me, see me in person!" so yeah, he's way OG =)

He gave me his opinions on the seats and kate and I finally decided on a black and grey combo for the seats.

We both drove home in our separate cars and after 15 minutes of driving I texted her stating my uneasiness with the final color combo. I knew Eric wanted the seats to look killer but maybe he was going to make them look too killer? I was noticing while driving Roxy (the MK4) that her interior was obviously cracked and not perfect after 7 years of driving and that if we had brand new seats in Roxy, they would be totally out of place right? I am finding that the more we work on Roxy, the more I have to continually remind myself of what our original plan is and that we have to stick with said plan or the look will be way too complicated with the combo of a bazillion different ideas.

Soooo, first thing in the morning, I called eric up and said to put a hold on the order and that I would be there after work later that night. Kate met me over there and we took a new swatch book into the car and just threw ideas off one another. What the aged leather would look like with the green of the body panels etc etc and then decided on two things... one, we were going with a new color combo as well as new a leather brand AS WELL AS the fact that we now had to recover the A/B/C pillars ONCE MORE to lose the green that we had from the first recover. Too many colors in the car would be goofy as hell.

Sadly, the reason we recovered the panels in green was that the denim we used for the headliner was far too think for the panels and that we picked green as that was the only suitable fabric that we found that stretched.

Obligatory kate booty shot...

On Saturday we drove out to the fabric store to find a black but nothing matched the denim out of close to 100 different options. SHIT! So we hoped back in the car and drove the exact direction to one more store 50 miles away and after an hour of searching we finally found fabric that matched and stretched as well!

So yeah, that's where we are as of now. Seats will be done in a few weeks, we'll recover the pillars to make the interior all black and well, that's it =)

nice to see a set of recaros that has soooo many adjustment options.
even nicer to see someone saving them from the garbage pile.
and as always kates bootie is killer too.
which reminds me, how come pvw gets the super glourious shots and we get fully covered and with blinders (seatbelt pillars)?
if i recall correctly, the betty build had some killer bootie for a hot minute.
