Hey all. My name's Jason or jkrew or stormdc and along with my GF (ohkate), here's our dang buildup thread. (Our last project: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2570803 )
We picked up a little 1995 GTI VR last week for the paltry sum of >1000$ bucks from a friend of a friend of a friend.

And on the day we brought her home next to my MK4 VR (Dara):
At first, I was pretty unsure of what to do with 'er but now after weeks and weeks (literally), my obsessed mind has come to the conclusion that I want to do a tribute buildup to a Japanese bike builder Shinya Kimura.
Shinya builds bikes in a very conventional asian style where the whole is only derived from the combination of all of the seperate parts. No one part shines any brighter than the others thus creating a subtle, yet unified look.
In a nutshell, function follows form as well as vice versa in this case. Although the final solution of this build will not primarliy focus on showroom shine, I would like to attempt to create a rough overall vintage look to the car giving it a dated and very mechanical feel. No frivolous items that won't really give anything to the whole yet when everything is looked at together as a single unit, only then will you see how everything will compliment eachother.
I know I may be going down a totally odd tangeant, I think everything will clear up as we go along. (Hell, most of my ideas are still in my head haha).
So with that, I look forward to popping loads of ideas off to the readers of this thread in the future. I also want to give myself a deadline for completeion by H20 2007.
Anyhoo, enjoy!
p.s. if you would like to check out Mr. Kimura's work, you can go here: http://www.zerochop.com
p.p.s. On a side note, I haphazardly wrote him an email a few weeks ago stating my intentions of this buildup and to my surprise, he wrote me back telling me he was looking forward to the outcome. Pretty cool
